Bonjour Messieurs-Dames,
This
has been a very interesting past two weeks. I've laughed, I've cried, had
anxiety and rejoiced. Needless to say I have a feeling that it is a small taste
of what the next two years will be like. But in the end I can only rejoice for
my Father that is in Heaven. Learning French is going pretty well, but the gift
of tongues will be necessary in order to be able to communicate a month from
now. I have learned so many things but there are two I want to focus on.
First
is how to receive spiritual gifts. Before the MTC I didn't realize that
spiritual gifts require effort as much as they do miracles, but I am going to
be forever grateful for what I have already received, gained, and will gain
because of my mission. I am determined to work hard, even if it takes blood,
sweat, and tears, so that I may be an instrument in the Lord's hand.
And
secondly I don't know how many of you have heard the story of the currant bush,
(linked here) told
originally by Hugh B. Brown and retold by D Todd Christofferson. This story
touched me down to my very core, the words "I am the gardener here, I know
what I want you to be" echo through my mind. I one day want to be able to
say "thank you Mr. gardener for cutting me down, for loving me enough to
hurt me"
God
loves me, he loves you, he loves every person on this world and the next. He is
here for you if you ask for it.

Elder Baird, we are so proud of you and your choices. Your ability to love everyone is such a valuable tool in the Lord's hands! We are grateful that you are serving Him. I am grateful for your sweet message that reminds me that the Lord has plans for me and for you and until we accept and choose his will we won't be who He can make us! Je t'aime beaucoup!
